The Bible And The Law
What Is Law?
- A binding custom or practice of a community
- A rule of conduct or action prescribed or formally recognized as binding or enforced by a controlling authority
- A rule or order that it is advisable or obligatory to observe
Exodus 20:12 - Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long upon the land which Adonai your God is giving you
Ephesians 6:1-3 - Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (which is the first commandment with a promise),so that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.
Deuteronomy 21:18-21 - Suppose a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not listen to the voice of his father or mother. They discipline him, but he does not listen to them. Then his father and mother are to grab hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city—to the gate of his place. They will say to the elders of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious—he does not listen to our voice. He is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of his city are to stone him with stones to death. So you will purge the evil from your midst—and all Israel will hear and be afraid.
Romans 3:20 - For no human, on the basis of Torah observance, will be set right in His sight—for through the Torah comes awareness of sin.
Romans 3:23-24 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are set right as a gift of His grace, through the redemption that is in Messiah Yeshua.
Romans 8:1-3 - Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Messiah Yeshua. For the law of the Spirit of life in Messiah Yeshua has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what was impossible for the Torah since it was weakened on account of the flesh God has done.
