Caught In a Thicket
Leviticus 23:23-25 - 23Adonai spoke to Moses saying 24“Speak to Bnei-Yisrael, saying: In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you are to have a Shabbat rest, a memorial of blowing (shofarot), a holy convocation. 25You are to do no regular work, and you are to present an offering made by fire to Adonai.”
Genesis 22:1-3 - 1Now it was after these things that God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham.” “Hineni,” he said. 2Then He said, “Take your son, your only son whom you love —Isaac—and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains about which I will tell you.” 3So Abraham got up early in the morning, saddled his donkey and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split wood for the burnt offering, and got up and went to the place about which God had told him.
Genesis 22:3 (excerpts) - 3So Abraham got up early in the morning,…took two of his young men, and Isaac his son… got up and went to the place about which God had told him.
Genesis 22:8 - Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself a lamb for a burnt offering, my son.”
Genesis 22:13-14 - 13Then Abraham lifted up his eyes and behold, there was a ram, just caught in the thick bushes by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14Abraham named that place, Adonai Yireh,—as it is said today, “On the mountain, Adonai will provide.”
